The Raven Cafe (NYC) burned down

Unbelievably at almost 5 AM this morning my cell received a text message: "Raven burned down." Of course I was sleeping at the time so this fact wasn’t known to me until several hours later, and then it took a little longer to confirm.

It doesn’t look too good. Luckily no one was hurt, but it’ll be a while before they're slinging Bass Ales again. The Raven was home to many Middle Pillar Holiday parties and a staple of more good times than I can recall. Here’s hoping for speedy re-opening.
