Aenima
Middle Pillar Presents its first European signing: the Portuguese band AENIMA. Their third release and the debut for MPP is Sentient, a stunning production of darkwave, ethereal and gothic rock songs with an epic layering of female siren song harmonies.
Begun in 1997 by singer Carmen and guitarist Rune, Aenima released the full-length Revolutions. On the strength of that release they played many high profile European shows, including the M'era Luna Festival. With musicians Nor (guitars), Paolo (bass & keyboards) and Hugo (drums & percussion) they released the limited edition EP Never Fragile. This low-run EP contained the single "Lilith" which has enjoyed abundant club and radio play throughout Europe and the States. A newly remastered version of "Lilith" appears on the full-length Sentient. Released in 2003, this was their first full length in six years.
From the ephemeral beauty of "Silently There" and "Old Europa" to the soaring, powerful and epic nature of "Pale" and "The Lighthouse" and "Eclipse", Sentient is an hour of music that captures the essence of the band through layers of guitars, a spirited rhythm section and vocal harmonies that enliven the heart.
While Aenima works on a new album, an exclusive remix of the track "Pale" has appeared on Middle Pillar's Eclectica V2 limited edition label compilation.
