Next weekend the Convergence 13 dark culture festival gathers in Portland, OR. Among the many friends and performers we'll be missing, (sniff!), will be Dru Allen, Soriah and Paul Mercer.

First up, Paul Mercer of The Changelings will be helping to open the weekend-long party with a special performance at Friday's (May 25th) Official C13 Reception / Meet & Greet, which begins 2 PM.

Then fast forward a bit as Dru (of Mirabilis and This Ascension) will be opening for Soriah (aka Enrique of Sumerland) on Sunday, May 27 at the Victorian Sunday Mourning Rehydration Service at The Old Church beginning at 1PM.

The service will just be one unique event over a weekend of performances and festivities which include Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, and Faith & The Muse. Plus film festivals, art and fashion shows, panels (!?) ... and drinking! Huzzah!

Now do you wish you were going? Well, you still can. There's still time to make arrangements. Just check out the official page.
Jason Wallach aka The UnQuiet Void is scoring the soundtrack to the forthcoming horror film Closet Space. The trailer’s on the TUQV website, plus there’s a full clip of a death scene which links from Dread Central . It’s pretty bloody, so consider yourself warned (or enticed). Lot’s of horror and cruelty spilling forth from an unknown dimension, plus music by the Unquiet Void; it’s going to be pretty sweet!

Oh, there’s also two more recent interviews. First there’s the excellent and rather in-depth interview with Jason on ReGenmag.com, where’s TUQV's Shadow-Haunted Outside was named one of the best of 2006 .

Then, Jason talks gear (aptly) with Gearwire. Twittlin’ knobs to summon hell!

If you don’t know what all the hub-bub’s about, bub, then check it.

Reviews for The Unquiet Void's The Shadow-Haunted Outside:

"Jason Wallach deserves much praise for his work in The Unquiet Void, for yet again, he has taken the atmosphere and the essence of Lovecraft's work and transmuted it into a symphony of dark ambient magnificence. His sounds are as alien and as terrifying as anything described in "The Call of Cthulhu" or "The Shadow Over Innsmouth," making this as much an appropriate audio accompaniment to the literary icon's works as the previous album was, as if Wallach were a conduit for us to enter the sound of Lovecraft's world. Like Poisoned Dreams, The Shadow-Haunted Outside possesses a focus and longevity that much of dark ambient music lacks." - <a href="http://www.regenmag.com/Reviews-840-The-Unquiet-Void-The-Shadow-Haunted-Outside.html"target="_blank">Re-Gen (this just a snippet – click on the link for much longer, comprehensive review!)

"2006 Blog'D Award - Best Music to Haunt Your Dreams or Your Wife With -
The Shadow-Haunted Outside by The Unquiet Void is a darkly melodic, melancholy composition whose roots are inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. You might classify this music as ambient or some variant of electronica, but the truth is, this CD is damn near in a class all its own. Some music can be listened to half-heartedly and left playing passively in the background, but The Shadow-Haunted Outside demands your attention, dragging you, whether you like it or not, on a dark journey that is sure to leave a mark." - <a href="http://brother-d73.livejournal.com/"target="_blank">BLOG'D

"The Shadow-Haunted Outside is the second entry in The Unquiet Void's Cthulhu Mythos-inspired trilogy of dark ambient albums. Waves of sound slither and churn, disturbing chatterings rise to the surface of the squamous din and submerge back into the depths of a blackether tumult, and somehow the whole thing resolves in a Coil-esque groove. Jason Wallach strikes again. I guarantee that if you have this playing loudly at your house on Halloween no greedy children will be ringing your doorbell. More candy for you and Nylarthotep!" - <a href="http://liarsociety.tripod.com/blog/index.blog?from=20061025"target="_blank">Liar Society

"Jason Wallach aka the Unquiet Void comes back with the 2nd chapter of a trilogy concept based upon the work of the famous horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. J. Wallach realizes one of his most complex pieces. His music has never been that soundscape like. He set up some ambient collages, which have been filled with an impressive layer of experimental noises. Some humming voices are now and than appearing at the surface. Tara Vanflower (formerly active in Lycia) is responsible for this mysterious touch, which for sure adds a bonus to this release. The main atmosphere of this album is quite cold, which perfectly represents the universe of horror and fright imagined by Lovecraft. The "Messenger deliver" and especially "Sleeper of N’Kai" are the both the pieces emerging from this opus. This isn’t my favorite album of UV for so far, but it’s a quite interesting concept as well!
